Turkmenistan held an event on the International Year of Peace

Peace and trust are the basis for the well-being and progress of all

Ashgabat, August 7 - Arzuw.news. Within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, a side event dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust was held, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan together with the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

On March 21, 2024, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution "2025 - International Year of Peace and Trust". The document was co-sponsored by 86 states of the world.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov established a special Organizing State Committee to coordinate activities on the occasion of the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.

The resolution reflects the philosophy of international relations "Dialogue is a guarantee of peace", which was initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In addition, the Head of Turkmenistan put forward an initiative to develop a Global Security Strategy in 2023 from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly.

It is worth noting that in 2007, on Turkmenistan's initiative, the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia was opened in Ashgabat.

On August 6, the conference also included a Ministerial Meeting on South-South Cooperation to support 32 landlocked developing countries. This partnership brings together states from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Oceania to share knowledge, technology and resources.

In the framework of South-South cooperation, Turkmenistan has focused its efforts on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, expanding trade and economic ties, developing energy and improving road infrastructure. At the country's initiative, the UN General Assembly adopted several resolutions aimed at developing a new format of cooperation in the transportation sector.
