Avaza, August 7 - Arzuw.news. A general debate at the plenary session of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries was held today at the Avaza National Tourist Zone. This is reported by the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan.
The event brought together representatives of Governments, international organizations, the private sector and civil society, who stressed the importance of an integrated approach to addressing the challenges of landlocked countries.
The discussions centered on the development of transport infrastructure and the creation of modern transport corridors. The participants discussed the need to minimize logistics barriers and increase the competitiveness of landlocked developing countries.
Special attention was paid to the modernization of railway and road routes, development of port infrastructure and introduction of innovative technologies in the transport sector. Delegates emphasized the importance of attracting capital investment in the transport segment and ensuring infrastructure resilience to climate change.
The plenary session addressed the prospects for improving logistics systems and strengthening trade partnerships through harmonization of customs procedures. Participants discussed the establishment of regional logistics centers with active participation of the private sector and international organizations.
Much of the debate focused on the role of digital trade and innovative technologies in developing e-platforms to accelerate global market access. Delegates noted the importance of agriculture for food security and economic growth, including support for small and medium-sized farms.
The participants of the conference considered the issues of introduction of sustainable agricultural practices and adaptation to climate change. The necessity to intensify attraction of investments and financial support from international financial institutions was discussed.
Special attention was paid to gender equality and women's empowerment as an integral component of sustainable development. The plenary session was a significant milestone in consolidating the efforts of landlocked developing countries to achieve sustainable development through joint work in infrastructure, logistics, agriculture and investment.
