The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the ECOSOC online forum, where the head of the Ministry of Finance Mukhametgeldy Serdarov spoke about the experience of overcoming the global crisis caused by the global pandemic. The Minister also detailed the steps taken by the country to support the national economy.
Mukhametgeldy Serdarov delivered his report during a conference on financing sustainable post-pandemic recovery of developing, landlocked countries. Serdarov noted that Turkmenistan is increasing exports of products produced by non-hydrocarbon industries. The politician said that there are enough domestic products on the Turkmen market, and new enterprises that fully meet modern requirements continue to be put into operation in the country. The official stressed that the country successfully implements projects not only on a national but also interstate scale, and everything is done to achieve the SDGs.
Separately, the head of the Turkmen Ministry of Finance focused on medical services, noting that access to them in the country has significantly improved. The official spoke about the close attention that the Turkmen government pays to social protection, protection of business and jobs.
Mukhametgeldy Serdarov also stressed that in July 2020 the state adopted a national program, the main objective of which is to reduce the level of impact of the global crisis on the national economy and to ensure sustainable development of all its sectors in 2020-2021.
The head of the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan also recalled that in August last year, the state approved six EEC conventions relating to the sphere of transport. Turkmenistan also ratified an international convention, whose objective is to simplify and harmonize customs control. In 2020, the state also gained observer status in the WTO.
