Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan meets with U.S. Secretary of State

A meeting of the heads of the of the C5+1 foreign ministries in Tashkent. The meeting was attended by U.S. Secretary of State, the foreign ministers of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

The participants have identified a list of issues for discussion in different spheres: economic, political, cultural and educational. The ministers were able to consider the topics of mutually beneficial partnership in trade, transport and energy. On the agenda were also issues of control at the borders of states.

The situation in Afghanistan was highlighted as a separate item at the meeting. The delegation from Turkmenistan made a report on the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline, the railroads of the states, as well as power line organizations and fiber-optic communication on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan section.

After the forum, the delegates signed Joint Statement of the C5+1 Ministerial Meeting.

In Tashkent, Turkmen Foreign Minister Meredov also had separate talks with U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, which touched on topics of cooperation of mutual interest.
