President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss the prospects for the development of bilateral partnership between the countries.
The Turkmen head of state expressed confidence that the visit of the Russian diplomat would contribute to further strengthening of Turkmen-Russian relations. President Berdimuhamedov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin through Lavrov.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the Russian Federation is a strategic partner of Turkmenistan. According to him, bilateral cooperation has a long-term nature and is based on the principles of equality, trust and mutual respect.
During the talks, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of partnership between the two states. The participants of the meeting noted that interstate relations are based on the rich historical experience of interaction and strong ties of friendship.
Particular attention was paid to the dynamic development of political dialog, including multifaceted contacts between the ministries and agencies of both countries. Active inter-parliamentary cooperation and regular consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Russia were also emphasized.
