President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe Carlos Manuel Vila-Nova within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This is reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The international forum is being held in the Avaza tourist zone on Turkmenistan's Caspian Sea coast. The African leader noted the importance of the conference for the sustainable development of landlocked developing countries and their integration into international economic relations.
The head of Turkmenistan stressed that the country maintains friendly relations with foreign states on the basis of the status of neutrality, which has been recognized three times by the UN. President Berdimuhamedov expressed interest in developing cooperation with African countries and advocated active interaction both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations, especially the UN.
During the talks, the tourism potential of the island state of Sao Tome and Principe was noted. The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to provide support if there are specific proposals for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation.
The two leaders expressed confidence that the talks would create a solid basis for deepening bilateral relations and strengthening international cooperation.
