Ashgabat, August 6 - Arzuw.news. Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov held a meeting with a delegation of the International Organization for Migration headed by Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Arthur Erken. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The talks were held yesterday on the margins of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. The participants of the meeting exchanged views on topical issues of interaction between Turkmenistan and IOM.
Representatives of the international organization expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for active and constructive position in strengthening migration policy. Turkmenistan's commitment to the principles of orderly, safe and legal migration was emphasized.
The parties noted the effectiveness of Turkmenistan's cooperation with international and regional organizations. They paid special attention to the importance of holding the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Turkmenistan.
Following the meeting, Turkmenistan confirmed its intention to continue its active participation in the projects of the International Organization for Migration.
