Turkmenistan became a member of the UNCITRAL Commission

Turkmenistan will be a member of the UN Commission on International Trade Law during the period from 2022 to 2028. Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister R. Meredov told Serdar Berdymukhamedov about this during Friday's meeting of the government. The country's leader emphasized the important role of this event, noting the unanimous vote of the WTO Council member states.

In his report to the president, Meredov noted that in previous periods, 17 resolutions of the General Assembly, proposed by the Turkmen side, were approved. He also drew attention to the fact that Turkmenistan is an active member of 11 different UN committees and councils.

The UNCITRAL Commission was created in 1966 to improve interaction between the different countries of the world in foreign trade and serves as a subsidiary organization of the UN General Assembly. Its members are 60 countries, elected for six-year terms.
