The FAO-GEF regional project on Integrated Natural Resource Management in Arid and Saline Areas of Central Asia and Turkey (CACAARP-2) has been registered by the Ministry of Finance and Economy of our country.
Project coordinator M. Shahumarov expressed his gratitude to the Turkmen authorities and assured that his team is ready to implement a plan to adapt Turkmen agriculture to climate change as soon as possible.
The project plans to introduce highly effective natural resource management technologies in Turkmenistan, and to create nurseries where drought- and salt-tolerant plants will be grown.
FAO/GEF is a project under the UN Convention to Combat Desertification and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The countries of Central Asia and Turkey began its implementation in 2018. The cost of implementation of the planned activities is about $76 million, the period of implementation - 5 years.
