In the first half of 2020, Russia's Gazprom increased the volume of gas purchased from Turkmenistan by 41.67%. In the first six months of 2019, Gazprom bought 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan, and in the same period of 2020 - already 1.7 billion cubic meters.
At the same time, Gazprom's gross gas purchases in Central Asia dropped by 70.69%. In January-June 2019, the concern purchased 9.9 billion cubic meters of gas from Central Asian states, and 5.8 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2020. The decrease was due to a decrease in purchases from Kazakhstan and a six-month halt in supplies from Uzbekistan.
