Speaker of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko today congratulated Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on conferment of the high state award of the Russian Federation - the Order "For Services to the Fatherland" IV degree, reported the news program "Watan" of the Turkmen television.
The Speaker noted that this decoration is a worthy recognition of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's personal contribution to strengthening Russian-Turkmen interstate relations and enhancing the strategic cooperation between the peoples of Russia and Turkmenistan.
According to Matvienko, the head of the House of Khalk Maslakhaty of the Turkmen Parliament is expected in Russia on a visit.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked for the congratulations and conveyed greetings and best wishes to the top leadership and people of Russia. Also, expressing sincere gratitude to President Vladimir Putin for conferring the state award of the Russian Federation, he said that he viewed this award as recognition of the joint long-standing path of Turkmenistan and Russia.
The day before Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Chairman Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov "for his great contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan, the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree.
The Order is the second most important state award of Russia after the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle.
