The scientists of the agrarian scientific-production center (RPC) of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute have bred another variety of cotton - it was named "Ashgabat-140" in honor of the anniversary of the founding of the capital of Turkmenistan.
Thanks to many years of diligent breeding work Turkmen agriculture will get a variety that is superior to its analogues in a number of indicators. The Scientific and Technical Council under the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan made a recommendation on introduction of the new variety, which noted the improved indicators - "Ashgabat-140" is the leader in terms of early maturity, yield, yield and length of fiber.
Gurbandurdy Novruzov, Ph.D., Head of Research Center Department, said that the basis for breeding the variety was "Ýolöten-19", "Aş-21", "IRSO" (from Zambia). The experimental plot in Anau became a place for long tests of the new variety and its comparison with "veteran varieties". In April 2021 the "newcomer" was recognized and recommended for cultivation in the regions of Turkmenistan. It is safe to say that "Ashgabat-140" is a worthy gift from agrarian breeders for the anniversary date of the capital city.
