The Olympic torch arrived from Greece to Miyagi Prefecture in Japan on March 20, local television reported. The start of the Olympic torch relay in Japan is scheduled for March 26 in Fukushima Prefecture. The flame will pass through 47 prefectures of the country within 121 days.
The flame was lit on March 12 in front of the ruins of the Temple of Hera in Ancient Olympia, and after a week in Greece, was handed over to Tokyo. After lighting the Olympic cauldron, the JASDF Blue Pulse aerobatic team flew high into the sky and depicted the Olympic rings in the air with colored smoke, and the JASDF Symphony Orchestra performed the "Tokyo Olympic March" which was played - at the opening ceremony of the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 9. As noted by the Organizing Committee of the 2020 Olympics, due to the epidemiological situation with the spread of coronavirus infection in the world, alternatives are being considered.
