Serdar Berdymukhamedov heads Turkmenistan's partnership structures with Russia and Japan

Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdymukhamedov will be responsible for Turkmenistan's cooperation with Russia and Japan. By his decree, the head of state appointed him as co-chairman of the relevant structures during the next government meeting. This decree also approved the composition of the Intergovernmental Commission on Turkmen-Russian Economic Partnership and the Turkmen-Japanese Economic Committee.

The President of Turkmenistan noted that these positions were previously held by Rashid Meredov, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and head of about 10 intergovernmental commissions that interact with many countries in a large number of areas. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that he intended to provide the head of the Foreign Ministry with a comfortable environment for his main activities, so he decided to introduce the new co-chairman to a number of commissions. For example, the intergovernmental structures responsible for development of the Turkmen-Russian and Turkmen-Japanese economic relations will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who will represent the Turkmen side. The head of state noted that this decision will pave the way for further deepening of cooperation with Japan and Russia. At the same time, the foreign minister was relieved of his duties as head of the above-mentioned structures.
