Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan on Caspian Issues gathered for the first meeting with new participants. The event took place in the walls MFAand the key theme was preparation for the VI Summit of the heads of the Caspian littoral states. The meeting was attended by relevant deputy prime ministers and the leadership of ministries and departments.
During his speech, Meredov stated that Turkmenistan has a proactive role in the Caspian issue, advocating the adoption of balanced solutions. Our country played a fundamental role in the creation of the legal and treaty basis for cooperation in the Caspian region. The mentioned process is going on today in a strong partnership with other Caspian states. The attention is paid not only to compliance with international legal norms, but also to the environmental component.
The Foreign Minister described a number of documents, both existing and under development by Turkmenistan, which have and will continue to contribute to expanded partnerships between the countries of the region in a variety of sectors: ecology, safety, economics, transportation. The green economy and climate change mitigation have also received considerable attention.
R. Meredov noted that comprehensive preparations should be made for the upcoming VI Summit of the Caspian Sea Heads of State, further outlining the key areas of these activities.
In conclusion, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan will continue to actively promote the preservation of peace and good neighborly relations between the countries of the Caspian region.
