The Turkmen delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister V.Hajiyev, arrived in Pakistan to consider topical areas of partnership in the energy sphere. The working visit will last January 31 to February 4 2022.
On the first day of the visit, representatives of Turkmenistan met with the head of the Ministry of Energy of Pakistan Muhammad Hammad Azhar. They discussed issues related to practical steps for the implementation of the gas pipeline project passing through the territory of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (TAPI) and the project of the transmission line, which will supply electricity from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan (TAP).
The Pakistani side was acquainted with the achieved milestones, ongoing works and prospects on the above projects. The data presented by the Turkmen side were welcomed by the representatives of Pakistan. The representatives of Pakistan expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for the ongoing comprehensive activities on these projects and emphasized the absolute commitment of Pakistan to implement its part of the agreement.
The participants agreed to organize meetings of technical experts in the near future to consider aspects of the practical implementation of the TAPI and TAP projects, as well as to prepare a strategy for the implementation of works.
On January 31, 2022, the delegation of Turkmenistan met with Sohail Mahmood, Secretary (Deputy Minister) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, at the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
The sides discussed issues of Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation in the key vectors of state activities. The diplomats noted the prospects for development of bilateral partnerships in the field of security, and emphasized the important role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission. The meeting participants also considered issues of practical implementation of the TAP and TAPI projects.
