Turkmenistan initiated a virtual meeting of heads of parliaments of several states, which was attended by the head of the Mejlis, Gulshat Mammedova. The event was dedicated to the role that parliamentarians play in strengthening peace and trust between peoples.
During the meeting, the heads of the Russian, Belarusian, Chinese, Turkish, Japanese, Pakistani, Afghan, Kazakh, Korean, Moldovan, Tajik, Uzbek, Armenian and Kyrgyz parliaments delivered video addresses.
In their speeches, the speakers noted the active approach of neutral Turkmenistan to consolidate efforts to strengthen global peace, stability, security, as well as to take balanced solutions to the key paramount problems of our time.
The issues on the agenda of this forum of parliamentarians were the strengthening of the rule of law in the world, increasing the primacy of the United Nations in promoting the preservation of global peace and security. They also noted the important role of preventive diplomacy in preventing conflict situations and resolving disputes.
Representatives of parliaments attending the meeting thanked Turkmenistan for organizing it. At the end of the meeting it was decided to promote a culture of peace and trust in order to ensure stable development.
