Turkmenistan Participated in 77th Session of ESCAP

On April 27, the 77th session of ESCAP was held, where the head of the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan, M. Serdarov, spoke.

The minister paid special attention to the environmental issue, stressing that Turkmenistan actively implements modern environmental developments and uses resource-saving technologies in industry and transport sector.

The head of the Ministry of Finance noted that the economy of Turkmenistan, despite the difficult situation caused by the global pandemic, is The results of 2020 showed a growth of 5.9%. This is the result of a competent policy of regulating the expenditure and revenue side of the state budget; in particular, measures to stabilize the financial system, fiscal stimulation of the economy and social protection of the population showed their effectiveness.

Thus, in August last year, Turkmenistan ratified six transport conventions of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe to enhance exports and support the sectors of the economy. For many commodity items mandatory certification of exports was abolished. Turkmenistan also joined the International Convention on the simplification and harmonization of customs procedures. In addition, 2020 was a landmark year, as Turkmenistan joined the WTO in the status of an observer.

The Turkmen side stated the need to intensify the implementation of the Addis Ababa program's agreements on financing for development.
