In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs there was a meeting on the joint with the EU eco-project "WECOOP", which is aimed at cooperation of Central Asian countries with European partners in the field of environmental protection, water resources and counteraction to climate change. Besides representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Committee for Water Resources, specialists of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated.
The main objective of this initiative is to organize a system of effective measures to address eco-issues nationwide, based on EU regulations. Participants discussed plans and a number of water management projects to be implemented with the support of the European Commonwealth under the WECOOP program.
In particular, the participants paid attention to the elaboration of legislative norms - laws related to waste, air protection, eco-expertise, forest cadastre, complying with international rules. For hydrometeorologists of the Ministry of Agriculture training sessions were planned during the meeting.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided to organize systematic meetings in this area.
