The WHO Regional Office for Europe highly appreciated Turkmenistan's efforts aimed at protecting the health of pregnant women and their future children. The country's work in this area was called a model of how the state should take care of its own citizens and how effective the multifaceted approach of government agencies can be in promoting a healthy lifestyle among this category of the population.
The Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan plans to develop physical activity programs specifically for expectant mothers. It will also take into account modern methods and existing international experience, the effectiveness of which has been proven in practice.
The Ministry also intends to train medical personnel, who will then be able to provide future mothers with the necessary advice and choose the most appropriate system of physical activity.
WHO studies demonstrate the positive effects of a properly selected exercise program on the body of pregnant women and their future children. First of all, it concerns improvement of sleep and general well-being, improvement of mood and maintenance of stable weight.
