Turkmenistan has launched a limited export of electricity to Iran. The need for Turkmen electricity has arisen in Iran due to the increase in electricity consumption due to the heat wave and the increase in the mining of cryptocurrencies. The speaker of state electricity company Tavanir Mustafa Rajabi voiced information that Iranian Khorasan will receive 140 megawatts of electricity from Turkmenistan via Serakhs. M.Rajabi expressed his opinion that the volume of electric power supplies will probably increase due to the fact that Turkmenistan and Iran have so far implemented only the first phase of the agreement on the supply of electricity.
Due to an increase in national electricity consumption by the state-owned company Tavanir, the supply of electricity to cryptomainers has been reduced.
An Iranian company representative said that electricity from Turkmenistan will be supplied to Khorasan until the end of September 2021.
