This year Turkmenistan is completing the implementation of the National Human Rights Plan (NHRAP) adopted on January 15, 2016. UNDP and the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan contacted Ms. Irina Liczek, an international expert on the issue, to assess the results of this work.
At an online meeting on the NAPHR debriefing, UNDP Acting Resident Representative N. Natsvlishvili and Deputy Head of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan B. Orazov confirmed their readiness to continue the partnership. Ms. Licek noted the importance of the NAPHR, in particular with regard to gathering the information needed to assess change.
Participants discussed the successes of the four years of Plan implementation, including NAPHR's contribution to the SDGs. They also looked at the challenges encountered during this time. This will be the basis for the development of a new strategy for 2021-2025.
