A new road bridge was opened on the border of Turkmenistan with Iran - in Serakhs. The capacity of the facility is equal to about 1 thousand trucks per day. The head of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan R.Gandymov, the governor of Akhal province and the governor of Khorasan-Rezavi took part in the opening ceremony of the infrastructure facility.
Iranian Minister of Transport and Infrastructure M. Eslami, who participated in the event online, stated: the bridge is designed to increase the volume of trade turnover, in general to strengthen commercial and economic relations and welfare of the two powers, to intensify Iranian trade cooperation with the Central Asian region. Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gholam Abbas Arbab Khales also noted that the newly erected bridge will strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
The new facility was the second project between Turkmenistan and Iran opened in anticipation of the total opening of communications between the states and the full restoration of cargo shipments after quarantine measures. Several dozen disinfection tunnels have been installed at the border between the two countries to treat cargo crossing the border.
