Turkmenistan has announced an international tender for the design and construction works for the turnkey construction of the International Airport in the Jebel settlement of Balkan Velayat. The complex will have an hourly capacity of 100 people.
Potential participants must deposit $500 and receive the terms of reference. Issuance of terms of reference is carried out in Ashgabat by the department of control of construction works and ground services of the agency "Turkmenhovayollary". The deadline for submission of applications for participation in the tender is 15 working days from the date of publication of the announcement.
The Abu Dhabi Development Fund is lending the construction of the airport complex in Jebel. For this purpose organization on June 10, 2021 allocated $75 million.
The credit funds will come to the State Bank of Foreign Economic Affairs for a 15-year term. The grace period is 3 years. At 4% per annum. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of Turkmenistan during Friday's government meeting.
The town of Jebel is located 20 km from the administrative center of Balkan province, the city of Balkanabat. It is also 4 km away from the popular mud cure resort of Mollakara.
It is expected that the airport will be equipped with ground support facilities and will be able to accommodate all types of aircrafts. This, in turn, will improve the air transport infrastructure of the Balkan region of the country and strengthen the air traffic in the entire Central Asian region.
