It is planned to lay a fiber-optic cable along the Caspian Sea bed, connecting Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, as well as to install special equipment, which makes it possible to broadcast several information channels via a single optical fiber. On March 11, 2020 during the visit of Turkmen delegation to Baku a Memorandum was signed which determined the main points for the implementation of the project.
Türkmenaragatnaşyk believes that the launch of this communication line will enhance information exchange between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, as well as contribute to strengthening cooperation between the countries.
In addition, thanks to fast data transfer technology, it will be possible to set up high-speed Internet with European countries. Powerful, innovative equipment will make it possible to exchange large-volume data over distances of hundreds of kilometers.
This project will provide an opportunity not only to establish a qualitatively new level of communication with Europe, but also to become an intermediary in providing the Internet and voice communication to countries such as Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan. This will lead to a sharp increase in exchanged data and the emergence of backup channels for information flows.
