Turkmenistan's capital is preparing to be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network

The Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan organized a working meeting to discuss the nuances of Ashgabat's inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (category "Design"). The Permanent Delegate of Turkmenistan to UNESCO joined the meeting online.

The participants of the meeting formulated more specific questions relating to the inclusion of the Turkmen capital in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. The participants discussed both the results achieved and actions planned for the future. The participants exchanged views on forming a program of mutual cooperation between the network cities that have expressed their willingness to invest in social and cultural integration in the long term.

Recall that in May 2021 the required nomination Ashgabat's application was officially accepted by the UNESCO Secretariat. Independent experts will study it. The Director General of UNESCO will inform the public about the decision made as a result of the review on the eve of the World Day of Cities, celebrated annually on October 31.

The Turkmen capital's entry into the UNESCO Creative Cities Network will mark not only worldwide recognition of Ashgabat's merits in the development of the cultural dialogue at the international level, but also give an opportunity to diversify its cooperation with other cities. The Turkmen capital seeks to develop relations with those of them, who consider creativity and culture one of the strategically important elements of stable socio-economic development.

As a reminder, it also took place meeting of mayors of friendly cities and twin cities of the capital of Turkmenistan.
