Turkmenistan intends to develop the hydrogen energy industry. This was said during the government meeting. The Roadmap for the development of Turkmenistan's cooperation with other states on this line for 2022-2023 was also presented at the meeting.
Its implementation will allow in a short period of time to form a new energy industry in Turkmenistan with a significant multiplier effect for the entire economy of the country. This will give an opportunity to respond more effectively to pressing issues of foreign economic agenda and is fully consistent with the export policy of Turkmenistan, its strategy in the field of economy.
The document reflects the key intentions and tasks aimed at the formation of a low-carbon hydrogen industry in the country. It also contains steps to equip this industry with the necessary technologies and personnel, and to establish and develop scientific and business cooperation in this field.
Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, briefed the Turkmen leader on the draft Roadmap. He told about its main directions, among which is strengthening of interaction with a number of relevant organizations - IRENA, IEA, Energy Charter, IAEA and others.
In order to successfully implement the set tasks it was proposed to draw up a National Strategy for the development of the hydrogen energy sector. For this purpose it was recommended to involve specialists of international level and form the IRENA Center in the state that would deal with these issues. The same experimental center was proposed to form on the basis of International Oil and Gas University named after Y.Kakaev.
At the same time, it is planned to solve the tasks related to the formation of the relevant sectoral infrastructure. For this purpose an Interdepartmental Working Group will be created. It will make decisions and coordinate the activities carried out in this sphere and consult with global leaders in the field of hydrogen energy.
