Representatives of Turkmenistan participated in an online forum organized by the Chinese Peace Foundation. Former Egyptian Prime Minister Esam Sharaf, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in China, as well as representatives of various agencies, organizations and communities of the Celestial Empire also took part in the event. The main topic of the meeting was the further development of cooperation under the conditions of the global pandemic COVID-19. Also on the agenda was the issue of China's economic cooperation with other countries of the world, which included a discussion of the Way and the Belt initiatives.
During his speech at the online forum, Turkmenistan's Ambassador to China, Parahat Durdyev briefed participants on the position of the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, on countering the crisis situation in the world caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Turkmen leader, only solidarity of states, their mutual assistance, as well as coordinated actions of health workers and creation of a platform for solving current problems and ensuring economic stability can significantly minimize the crisis phenomena both in the global and regional economies. The President of Turkmenistan called the COVID-19 pandemic a global challenge requiring a universal long-term strategy. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan also noted that at the initiative of Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov the next year will be declared the International Year of Peace and Confidence.
The Turkmen diplomat also noted the positive dynamics of the Turkmen-Chinese bilateral relations. In particular, attention was drawn to the commonality of the Chinese strategy "One Belt, One Road" and the Turkmen initiative "Revival of the Great Silk Road". They demonstrated the coincidence of approaches of both states to the problems of regional integration. Parahat Durdyev quoted the words of the President of Turkmenistan at the First Caspian Economic Forum. According to the Turkmen leader, the above-mentioned initiatives of China and Turkmenistan are based on the historical unity, and their main goal is the well-being and prosperity of the peoples of both countries.
