Yesterday, on April 10, the 78th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC) of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea was held in Ashgabat in the format of a video conference. This is reported on its website by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Representatives of water management institutions of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan took part in the meeting. A delegation headed by the Chairman of the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan took the floor on behalf of our country.
During the meeting, the participants analyzed the measures taken by the countries after the Summit of the Heads of State-Founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea held on August 24, 2018 in Turkmenbashi.
Also, the parties exchanged views on the implementation of proposals directly related to the improvement of socio-economic, environmental and water situation in the Aral Sea basin.
Emphasizing the importance of Turkmenistan's performance of water diplomacy, the participants listened to the final data regarding the water limits of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya Rivers for the growing season 2019-2020.
At the end of the negotiations, a Protocol was adopted.
