Turkmenistan intends to join the agreements on the rates for transit by rail. These are the International Transit Tariffs and the Unified Transit Tariffs of the Organization for the Collaboration of Railways (OCTR).
The Turkmen leader has approved the proposal to join the agreements of the CFR. The initiative was voiced by the general director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers, Mammetkhan Chakyev.
In his report, M.Chakyev said that a favorable competitive pricing policy will effectively promote the strengthening of transport flow along such interstate corridors connecting China and Europe. It will also help form new railway routes and increase the number of container shipments.
The Türkmendemirýollary agency, which is a full member of the JSC "TEC", has been studying the issue of joining the agreements on International Transit Rates and Unified Transit Rates. This will make it possible to form a convenient platform for the harmonization of uniform tariffs for transit transport along the routes in the Chinese and European directions.
Also the accession of Turkmenistan will make the domestic transport and logistics system more perfect, study the pricing information, enrich the geography of cargo transit carried out by rail.
President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov approved of joining the agreements, stressing the importance of sharing practical knowledge and practical innovations with foreign partners. M.Chakyev was instructed to consider all aspects in this area in detail.
The head of state emphasized the need to form an environment conducive to the development of multimodal logistics and transit links to maximize the opportunities that Turkmenistan has in this area, to diversify the list of services where digital technology is used.
