The extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers considered further steps to improve Turkmenistan's education system in accordance with European Union standards. Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who chaired the meeting, was reported not only on what had been done, but also on the development of a new Concept for Improving the Teaching of Subjects in the Country. During the meeting, it was told about the successful implementation of the EU project to assist in the modernization of the Turkmen education system, which was launched in 2016. The project, which is implemented jointly by Germany, Latvia, Great Britain and Greece, is in its final stage. The Turkmen side is represented not only by the Ministry of Education (the main beneficiary) and the National Institute of Education, but also by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, a number of ministries and public organizations.
The main goal of the activities is to modernize key areas such as digitalization and language learning, and to improve the quality of education in Turkmenistan.
The Concept for Improving the Teaching of Exact and Natural Science Subjects is intended to continue the work begun by this EU program. It provides for the active use of innovative methods, as well as opportunities offered by digital technologies. Having heard the report, the head of the state said that the assimilation and introduction of the world's best practices and best foreign teaching experience will help the domestic educational system achieve a new quality level.
The President of Turkmenistan emphasized the important role of further partnership at the international level in the modernization of education. The constant interchange between the scientific and educational centers of Turkmenistan and other countries acquires a particular importance. As the Turkmen leader said, raising and developing the intellectual young generation is the main task of the state. After all, a systematic approach is required for quality and comprehensive solution of this problem.
