The largest event in the world dedicated to the latest developments in mobile technology has been cancelled by decision of the GSM Association. According to the planned program, the exhibition was to be held in Barcelona on February 24-27.
According to John Hoffman, head of the Association, the decision was made due to the refusal of many of major companies to exhibit because of the coronavirus outbreak in China:
"Global concerns about the coronavirus outbreak, travel problems and other circumstances make this impossible."
In the 33 years Mobile World Congress, the annual event was canceled for the first time.
Among the companies that abstained from participating in MWC 2020 were: LG, Ericsson, Sony, Amazon, Vivo, Intel, NVIDIA, as well as Xiaomi.
Recall that at the show was expected to present the flagship Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, the flagship Sony Xperia, the release of Vivo Apex 2020 and other innovations giants in the field of mobile technology.
