March 30 has been declared International Zero Waste Day. This was made possible by UN support of the Zero Waste Project, which has been overseen for five years by the First Lady of Turkey.
This project includes a list of measures to combat global warming and climate change on the planet. These include sorting waste, organizing recycling systems by national governments, and preventing the accumulation of waste at local levels. The project was launched five years ago and has crossed the borders of the Republic of Turkey, entering the agenda of many international platforms raising environmental issues.
Thus, at the last meeting of the UN General Assembly, the Zero Waste Resolution initiated by Turkey was adopted unanimously. The initiative of the Republic of Turkey was joined by 105 states.
