Turkmenistan presented its initiatives at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State held in Dushanbe. This is reported by the news agency "Westiabad".

The meeting, which was attended by the leaders of the Commonwealth member states and CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev, discussed key issues of interstate cooperation, economic integration, transportation and energy interconnectivity.

In his speech, the President of Turkmenistan noted that the CIS remains an important platform for constructive dialog and elaboration of joint solutions.

The head of state emphasized the role of the Commonwealth in strengthening security, developing trade, technology and humanitarian ties. Berdimuhamedov paid special attention to the issues of transport and logistics interaction, development of North-South and East-West routes, as well as the potential of the Caspian region as a key link in Eurasian communication.

The President of Turkmenistan also emphasized the importance of strengthening international law and CIS cooperation with the UN, including within the framework of the new General Assembly resolution on cooperation between the UN and the Commonwealth. The head of state emphasized the importance of scientific and technical partnership and cultural and humanitarian exchange between the CIS countries.

The summit resulted in a decision to transfer the CIS chairmanship to Turkmenistan in 2026. Serdar Berdimuhamedov said that in the near future a concept of chairmanship will be prepared aimed at further strengthening cooperation and realization of the Commonwealth potential.

The participation of the President of Turkmenistan in the summit confirmed the country's commitment to the policy of neutrality and readiness to actively contribute to the development of the CIS as a sustainable and effective platform for international cooperation.
