The CAFA Futsal Cup-2023 tournament started in the capital of Tajikistan, in which for the first time Turkmen athletes defeated the national team of Iran with a score of 2:1. This is reported by the Internet edition "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
Prior to this tournament, the teams from Turkmenistan and Iran have met five times, with the Iranian team always winning. In all meetings, the players of the Turkmen national team only once managed to print the opponent's goal.
Over the past year, the national team of Turkmenistan has renewed its squad, including the coaching staff. The Turkmen national futsal team is now headed by the head coach of FC Denizchi Yakub Ovezov.
Athletes from soccer clubs "Denizchi", "Kopetdag" and "Senagatbank" represent Turkmenistan at the tournament.
