On July 24, a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on ensuring the fulfillment of Turkmenistan's international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law was held under the leadership of Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The meeting was attended by members of the Turkmen Parliament, representatives of responsible state structures and public organizations. The meeting reviewed the results of the Commission's work in the first half of 2023 and the prospects for the near future.
In addition, issues related to the implementation of the National Plan of Action on Human Rights in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, the National Plan of Action for the realization of children's rights for 2023-2028, the Working Plan for the implementation of international humanitarian law for 2021-2023 and other programmes and projects implemented in cooperation with the United Nations were discussed. Preparations were made for the Universal Periodic Review.
