On June 21, Oleg Kononenko, Hero of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, will celebrate his 60th birthday on the ISS. The spacecraft, which will dock to the ISS on June 1 this year, will deliver handmade candies as a gift to the jubilee. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
The future instructor-cosmonaut-test pilot 1st class, commander of the cosmonaut squad of Roscosmos State Corporation Oleg Kononenko was born on June 21, 1964 in Chardzhou (modern Turkmenabat), Turkmen SSR. After receiving school education, he entered the Kharkov Aviation Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky in the direction of "Aircraft Engines", upon graduation from which he was awarded the qualification of "Mechanical Engineer".
Today the cosmonaut is working aboard the ISS on a year-long expedition - this is Kononenko's fifth flight into space. Upon completion of the expedition, Oleg Kononenko will set a world record for the total duration of stay in space (1,110 days).
