The Consulate of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan organized a mini-football tournament at the stadium of the Cultural and Sports Center of Gazprom dobycha Astrakhan on September 13-14. This is reported by the Internet edition "Orient."
The event was timed to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fraghi. The soccer teams included representatives of the Turkmen diaspora from Astrakhan Oblast and Stavropol Krai and Turkmen students studying in Astrakhan.
Consul of Turkmenistan Gadam Ilamanov noted the role of literary heritage of Makhtumkuli Fraghi in the formation of Turkmen national culture. The soccer tournament is aimed at strengthening Turkmen-Russian relations, popularization and development of healthy lifestyle, sports and physical culture.
At the end of the tournament the participants were awarded in the nominations "Best Player", "Best Scorer" and "Best Goalkeeper".
