On Tuesday, February 11. The heads of Georgia's and Azerbaijan's railroads met to to discuss tariffs for transporting oil from Turkmenistan. The discussion also included other private and public sector companies involved in the implementation this logistics mechanism. We are talking about the Caspian Shipping Company of Azerbaijan. The Caspian Shipping Company of Azerbaijan, the Baku International Sea Trade Port, the Batumi and The Caspian Sea Shipping Company of Azerbaijan.
It is reported that the adoption of The parties are informed of the adoption of permanent tariffs, which will correspond to the level of maritime transportation in the Volga-Don direction. This decision will already in the near future will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the railroad as the way of oil transit from Turkmenistan.
As a result The negotiations resulted in the signing of a protocol with fixed tariffs, as well as the parties discussed further steps of cooperation.
It should be noted that last year rail transportation in Azerbaijan increased by 9.1% compared to 2018, in Georgia - by 9%. For 2019, the transit of oil products in Azerbaijan increased by 39.2%, which accounted for the overall growth. On the Georgian Railway, it is noted that both wagon and container shipments were boosted in 2019.
