Korean opera stars performed with the Turkmen orchestra

Ashgabat became a venue for a cultural event - the Makhtumkuli Music and Drama Theater hosted a gala concert of Korean classical music. The initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea allowed the Turkmen audience to get acquainted with the works of outstanding opera performers from Korea: tenor Kwon Hwapen and mezzo-soprano Kwon Miji. Their performance, held with a full house, was a vivid demonstration of the strengthening of cultural dialog between the two countries. It is reported that MIC.

The performance was accompanied by the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan under the baton of maestro Rasul Klychev. Among the audience were diplomats, representatives of state structures, as well as numerous art lovers.

The program of the evening included famous Korean compositions such as "Destiny", "Scent of Memories" and "I Will Live in Green Mountains". The performance of the composition "Belt of Faith" from the famous Oscar-winning movie "Parasite" was a special delight.

The audience highly appreciated the skills of the performers. Tenor Kwon Hwapen, a graduate of Korea National University of the Arts and a finalist of the prestigious Otto Edelmann and Hans Gabor Belvedere competitions, captivated the audience with his powerful and dramatic voice. Mezzo-soprano Kwon Miji, a graduate of Kenhee University and winner of the Seoul Competition Opera Orchestra, charmed the audience with her velvet timbre and deep emotionality.

This musical evening was an important step in strengthening the cultural dialog between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.
