UNFPA assists Turkmenistan in implementing a global census

A UN expert commission has arrived in Ashgabat to conduct a number of consultations on assistance in preparation for the global census of the population and housing stock of the state, which is scheduled for the end of the current calendar year. The Mission includes 6 UN consultants.

The upcoming event will provide the government with ample opportunity to use the findings for effective strategic planning within the framework of the National Development Program for the next three decades.

UN mission specialists held a series of meetings with R. Meredov and D. Amanmukhammedov to discuss mechanisms for conducting the census, which will allow all its stages to be carried out in accordance with high international standards.

UNFPA reaffirmed the UN's commitment to fully supporting the census, including recording, processing, and subsequent analysis.
