Turkmenistan and UN discuss joint activities

Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Tajikistan A. Gochmyradov and UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Ramaswami Parvati held a meeting at the UN Permanent Mission in Tajikistan on August 13. Arzuw.news reports with reference to the Embassy.

The participants of the meeting noted Turkmenistan's active role in the activities of the United Nations and reaffirmed the country's commitment to the principles of positive neutrality, peaceful coexistence and preventive diplomacy.

The parties discussed plans to hold joint events within the framework of the Year of International Peace and Confidence both in Turkmenistan and other countries.

Special attention was paid to the results of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which was held in August in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. The conference became an important platform for elaboration of decisions on topical international issues.

The diplomats also discussed the organization of a joint event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the UN. The event is planned to be attended by young people, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations.

The event will focus on the role of neutrality, trust and preventive diplomacy in peace and sustainable development.
