Catherine Smallwood: "More than 60,000 COVID-19 tests have been done in Turkmenistan.

The briefing on the results of the visit of the WHO Regional Office for Europe mission to Turkmenistan continued in the UN office building, during which Dr. Catherine Smallwood, WHO ERB Senior Emergency Officer, Head of the WHO COVID-19 mission in Turkmenistan, and Gurbangul Ovlyagulova, Head of the Dangerous Diseases Surveillance Department of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, answered questions from representatives of local and international media.
When asked by BBC News journalist Rayhan Demitriyeh (Rayhan Demytrie) about the number of COVID-19 tests performed in Turkmenistan, Dr. Smallwood responded
We have worked with the Central Laboratory of Turkmenistan, which conducts tests for COVID-19 and we know that they have now conducted more than 60,000 tests
Also, the expert added:
The laboratory has all the necessary equipment and qualifications to perform quality testing for infections
Dr. Smallwood began her speech by noting that the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan had done everything possible to ensure that the experts were able to reach their destination.
