The Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in the UN Internet Governance Forum

Representatives Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF). This event is held annually and is the Fifteenth in a row. It was within the framework of these talks that the Parliamentary Online Roundtable also took place.

Participants at the forum, held in partnership with the Inter-Parliamentary Union IGF 2020, included parliamentarians from from all corners of the world. They discussed the importance of Internet technology in the growth of humanity's standard of living and well-being. This is especially important now, when the flow of normal life is hindered by COVID-19 pandemic. And now one of the main tasks of the World Wide Web is Building confidence and helping you recover from illness.

The invitation of Turkmenistan to participate in the IGF is convincing evidence that the international community recognizes the success of the country in developing the information space and digital technology.

Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov called digitalization among the priorities for the development of the modern state. To facilitate this, a number of legislative acts and programs have been adopted to facilitate Turkmenistan's smooth transition to the digital economy.

Participation in this Forum allows countries to exchange experience, which eventually contributes to improvement of the legal framework regulating the use of the Internet at the national level. Representatives of the participating countries noted the importance of IT technologies in improving people's lives and adapting them to the events taking place in the modern world.

The general slogan under which the UN holds this year's IGF is "The Internet for Enhancing Human Solidarity and Resilience".
