July 13, Ashgabat /Arzuw NEWS/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host a press briefing with experts from the WHO Regional Office for Europe on the preliminary results of their COVID-19 mission to Turkmenistan at 17:00, July 15, 2020. The WHO ERB press service told Arzuw NEWS today.
Wednesday's briefing will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, WHO ERB Senior Emergency Officer, Head of WHO COVID-19 mission in Turkmenistan - Dr. Catherine Smallwood and media representatives. The briefing will also be broadcast online for representatives of foreign media, who will be able to ask questions to the experts in real time through a special online chat room.
Since 6 July, a team of WHO ERO experts has been working in Turkmenistan, together with local experts, on the preparedness and response aspects of COVID-19. They visited health facilities, public health centers, laboratories and emergency centers at the national, regional and city levels to assess risks to people and develop the response mechanisms that would be needed to address COVID-19, should it occur.
The press briefing will be held in English and Russian with consecutive interpretation.
