The President of Turkmenistan held talks with the President of the Azerbaijani State Oil Company SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev. Key areas of cooperation in the development of hydrocarbon fields in the Caspian Sea were discussed. The emphasis was placed on the development of the largest field "Dostluk", Memorandum on which Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan signed in January 2021. The need to develop cooperation in the fuel and energy sector was also discussed.
According to the unanimous opinion of the parties, the aforementioned Memorandum will provide an opportunity to attract large foreign investments in the implementation of the project, and as a result, it will contribute to strengthening the Turkmen and Azerbaijani economies, create new jobs, and improve the quality of life of citizens of both countries. The head of Turkmenistan noted that cooperation in this area will transform the Caspian Sea region into a territory of peace and good neighborliness.
Earlier, we wrote that during his speech at the International Oil and Gas Investment Forum in Ashgabat, Rovnag Abdullayev spoke about Azerbaijan's ability to share with Turkmenistan the potential of the Southern Gas Corridor and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline to supply Turkmenistan's energy resources to the world market.
