The President of Turkmenistan defined the vectors of the country's foreign policy

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov has defined the key directions of the country's foreign policy. The head of state spoke about them in his speech during an expanded government meeting held within the framework of the extraordinary meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty. In this connection, the deputy prime minister and the head of the Foreign Ministry, Rashid Meredov, have received a number of instructions.

The Turkmen leader noted the importance of building mutual cooperation with interested states, interstate and regional formations on a mutually beneficial and equal basis.

The president dwelt separately on strategic cooperation with the UN. In this area, it is necessary to work actively to promote in the Community of Nations and its formations the initiative "Dialogue is a pledge of peace.

In implementing transport, environmental and energy diplomacy, we should continue to work closely with a number of intergovernmental and regional organizations, including the CIS, WTO, OSCE, OIC and others.

R.Meredov was instructed to focus on the further intensification of interrelations with the states of the Central Asian region and other neighboring countries with which Turkmenistan had already established fruitful partnership. In particular, it is necessary to ensure fulfillment of tasks stipulated in the Joint Statement that was adopted by leaders of the Central Asian countries during the Consultative Meeting, which was held in Turkmenistan in 2021.

Constructive cooperation with the Caspian states continues to be among the key foreign policy vectors. As the Turkmen leader noted, new options and directions of partnership relations should be implemented with them. Thus, one of the priority tasks in this direction is to ensure a high organizational level of the Sixth Summit of the Caspian Sea Countries Leaders, to be held in Turkmenistan in 2022.

The gradual development of comprehensive cooperation with European countries, the Asia-Pacific region, and America is not losing its relevance. The president emphasized that activities in this direction should be carried out both at the governmental and ministerial and departmental levels.
