Р. Meredov: "We are not hiding anything, we are open.

Ashgabat, April 22, /Arzuw NEWS/, at today's information briefing "Development of Health System of Turkmenistan and International Cooperation" held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov said in response to a question by German Ambassador to Turkmenistan Mr. Naythart Hofer-Wissing about the current epidemiological situation in the country due to the global pandemic COVID-19:

If there were at least one recorded case in Turkmenistan (COVID-19 - ed.), we would first of all tell our international partners, the World Health Organization. We are responsible for the commitments we made as a member of the UN, as a country with a permanent Neutrality recognized by the UN 25 years ago. So, we are not hiding anything, we are open.

In his response, Minister Meredov also recalled the possibility of representatives of the relevant diplomatic missions to visit the quarantine center in Lebap velayat.

And I didn't say for nothing that we were willing to provide the opportunity to visit the quarantine center. No questions asked." - Meredov added.

Recall that Turkmenistan is one of the few countries where not a single case of COVID-19 coronavirus infection has been registered. On this occasion, some mass media started spreading their speculations that this is allegedly impossible and that the government of Turkmenistan is silent about possible facts of infection with this virus. In his speech today, Minister Meredov emphasized that Turkmenistan has nothing to hide and that there really are no cases of COVID-19 in the country.
