Uzbek Ambassador Akmaljon Kuchkarov was briefed at the Yildiz Hotel in the capital

Today, at a briefing dedicated to the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the participants were briefed on the main points of the message.

Kuchkarov, head of the diplomatic mission, said that Uzbekistan has embarked on a path of radical reform and transformation. Today, Uzbekistan is rightfully considered one of the most dynamically developing countries in the world.

Representatives of the diplomatic corps and the media learned that Uzbekistan's GDP growth for 2019 was 5.6%. In 2019, the republic attracted $4.2 billion in foreign direct investment, 3.7 times more than in 2018.

The reforms in the field of tourism should be noted separately. Uzbekistan has introduced a visa-free regime for the citizens of 86 countries and a simplified visa regime for the citizens of 57 countries. Thanks to this, the country was visited by 6.7 million foreign tourists. This is 3.3 times more than in 2016.

In 2020, the President of Uzbekistan has set a task to pay special attention to personnel training and to cover up to 25 percent of the population with higher education. In the future, this figure should be at least 50-60 percent. Particular attention is being paid to gender equality and education for women. Separate grants are allocated for girls in higher education institutions.

Akmalzhon Kuchkarov noted that special attention is paid to the development of good-neighborly relations with the countries of Central Asia, first of all, with Turkmenistan.

"Relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are developing at an unprecedented pace. Thanks to the trusting dialogue between the heads of the two countries: Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, we have achieved great results in almost all spheres of activity in 2019. The trade turnover between our countries last year exceeded 500 million dollars. This was not the case in the history of our relations. We wish good luck, well-being, development and prosperity to Independent Turkmenistan," said the head of the diplomatic mission Akmaljon Kuchkarov.
