Turkmen schoolchildren won two silver medals in the Asian Rapid Championship in Bangkok. This is reported by the Internet edition "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."
Maksat Avlyakuliev became the silver medalist among boys up to 9 years old, while Turkmen chess player Aya Bayramova won among girls up to 11 years old, only 0.5 points short of the gold medal. Turkmenistan took 7th place in the team standings at the championship, while the first place went to the Republic of Kazakhstan. A total of 555 chess players from 31 countries took part in the competition.
Rapid is a type of rapid chess in which each player is given fifteen minutes to think about moves for the entire game, with 10 seconds added for each move.
